Program Description
Taught at the Atlantis University Business School, the Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) is a comprehensive program centered around the theories, principles, and practices of the modern business world. Whether the degree coursework is taken at our Miami, Florida campus, or online, MBA students acquire broad views of the total business organization, enhanced decision-making skills , and new technological aptitudes as they work towards their diplomas and gain preparation for positions of leadership out in the marketplace.

 

Upon completion of AU’s MBA Program, students will have the knowledge and qualifications for executive-level employment in business, government, and a variety of other industries in which professional business skills are needed.

Program Objectives
The following important objectives have been built into the MBA program offered at Atlantis University:

  • Ensure that students acquire the tools and practical experiences that are essential for an upper-management career in different business and technology fields.
  • Develop and refine the student’s knowledge of finance, marketing, business-based information technology, and the central functions of management in a global economy.
  • Train students to employ intelligent business strategies, international business concepts, marketing tools, and critical analysis to manage and resolve situations in both stable and unpredictable environments.
  • Enhance the student’s appreciation for ethical and legal matters in the context of business.

  • Encourage students to consider how their training might be used to serve the economic and social well being of their communities.

  • Raise student sensitivity to cultural differences in the workplace, and illustrate how such differences need to play a role in management strategies.

Module I
MBA501- Survey of Accounting


Students learn the mechanics of financial accounting and gain the skills needed to understand, analyze, and present financial statements that have been prepared according to standard accounting principles. Module topics include the analysis of financial statements, ratio analysis, time-value of money, accounting information, and business decision-making.

Module II
MBA521 - Financial and Economical Management


Students are taught the nature and purpose of financial management as it exists in both a national and international context. Module topics include the valuation of financial assets, analysis of risk and return, saving and investment, capital budgeting applications, the impact of the Federal Reserve on the economy and business, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and leveraged buyouts, and working capital management.
Module III
MBA521 - Financial and Economical Management


Students learn about the concept of effective marketing and branding and the ways brands acquire value in evolving marketplaces. Allocating the proper resources to effective marketing campaigns to build successful brand equity is one of the most valuable assets of any company today. Topics include marketing mix elements, target markets, positioning, managing and protecting brands, effective marketing campaigns and pricing.
Module IV
MBA541 - Quantitative Methods for Decision Makers


In order to prepare students for executive-level problem analysis and resolution, they are taught how to utilize mathematical and quantitative methods when making critical decisions about management, finance, operations, and marketing. Students also gain competence with computer applications  that can help them examine, estimate, and strategically compare the outcomes of different business alternatives. Specific module topics include linear programming, inventory models, probability distributions, project scheduling ,and decision theory.

Module V
MBA671 - Leadership Development


This module examines the attitudes, behaviors, and skills of some of the most effective  business leaders of today, and historically. Students are instructed to evaluate the characteristics of  leaders as a way to then assess and improve their own strengths and abilities. Topics include the analysis of historic leaders, power and influence techniques, innovative leadership, empowerment, personal leadership, and group motivation.
Module VI
MBA681 - Complex Negotiations


This module explores the dynamic process through which the interests of negotiating parties change, and looks at the overlapping roles of managers engaged in negotiations. The analytic and interpersonal skills of students are sharpened as they gain insight into the art of persuasion. Specific course topics include dynamic strategies, managing and improving negotiations, and personal mastery of negotiating situations.
Module VII
MBA691 - Managing Innovation


Students acquire the skills that are needed to effectively direct innovation across different segments of the business environment. The critical elements behind the design and development of innovative products and services are also explored. Specific topics include experimentation, prototyping, managing development systems, sources of innovation, new trends and technologies, and flexibility in development.
Module VIII
MBA 697 - Global Strategic Management


This module presents a systematic approach to competition around the world, encouraging students to develop strategic decision-making capabilities in the international domain. Topics include international strategy, shareholder value, management coordination, organizational design, global market analysis, and consumer variations.
