ATLANTIS UNIVERSITY (AU) - Transfer Students
Credit Transferring Information and Policies

The Academic Director at Atlantis determines which credits a student can transfer and use towards a program at the university. Since college philosophies, objectives, and programs obviously vary and change over time, there may be occasions in which students must forfeit some of their previously earned credits. With this in mind, although Atlantis is always committed to working with transfer students, the university can not make any up-front promises about the specific credits that will be accepted from other institutions.

When making transfer evaluations, AU relies on the following general guidelines:

  • Official transcripts must be sent to Atlantis directly from the institution that initially granted the credits.
  • Courses are analyzed on a case-by-case basis, and credit is granted if it is determined that the course in question is sufficiently similar to a corresponding course at Atlantis.
  • The credits for a course can not be transferred if the student did not earn a grade of “C” or better in the class.
  • Before specific course credits are transferred, Atlantis reserves the right to have one of its faculty members administer an examination to test the applicant’s competency in the course subject matter.
  • Transfer credits can not be used to satisfy more than 75% of a program course load at Atlantis University. (This guideline is open to exception if the credits are coming from an affiliate school with which AU has established an articulation agreement or memorandum of understanding. The guideline can also be overridden if the credits were earned as part of an outside educational program that was under the supervision of Atlantis University.)
  • When deciding whether or not credits should transfer in a specific case, Atlantis prioritizes its commitment to making sure that graduates of AU are professionally trained.
Undergraduate transfer of Credit Policy

Transfer students may receive credit for courses that are equivalent to ATLANTIS UNIVERSITY’S courses. To apply for transfer credit, students must send an official copy of their transcript to the Academic Office for review and complete the corresponding paperwork for each transfered course. A transfer student’s transcript(s) becomes part of the official student permanent record. ATLANTIS UNIVERSITY will determine how many credits, if any, will apply toward a degree. Credit may be granted only for courses in which grades of “c” or better have been earned. Students must complete a minimum of 25% of a program at Atlantis University, unless the school has an articulation agreement or memorandum of understanding with its affiliated school or other university or higher education institution where ATLANTIS UNIVERSITY is the supervisor of the process.

It may be necessary for students to forfeit some previously earned credit in the transfer process since college philosophies, objectives and programs may vary and change from year to year. Therefore, ATLANTIS UNIVERSITY makes no blanket statement or promise of acceptance of credits from any other institution.

Transferring AU Credits to Other Institutions
Atlantis has articulation agreements with other colleges and universities so that AU credits are eligible for acceptance there. Students interested in transferring Atlantis credits to another school can contact our Academic Director for additional information. In all cases however, since the transferability of credits is ultimately at the discretion of the receiving institution, Atlantis can not make any assurances with regards to this matter.
Transfer Information for Veterans
Recipients of Veterans Administration benefits are responsible for reporting all prior education and training to AU. Atlantis evaluates this information and grants credit as appropriate. Tuition fees and program duration are also proportionally reduced. All of AU’s decisions and actions in the case are then relayed to the veteran student as well as the Veterans Administration.
